MIH Systems Group is a growing company in the evolving field of building commissioning.  We are currently seeking a MEP Commissioning Engineer to join our team to assist in the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in new and existing buildings, with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency and sustainability to our clients.  The candidate would gain exposure to some of the highest profile construction projects in New York City, and the opportunity to gain experience with a wide range of systems. Candidates should be self-starters and detailed oriented.

 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct field inspections of projects and generate field observation reports.

• Compile, track, and review project design documents and submittals.

• Prepare project specific pre-functional and functional testing scripts.

• Develop project specific MEP commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.

• Develop and maintain commissioning logs.

• Verify completion of pre-functional tasks in field.

• Conduct functional testing of equipment on a unitary and system-wide basis.

• Document all testing procedures and findings.

• Write comprehensive reports which include recommendations for optimizing building operations, function test results, list of deficiencies, and O&M procedures.

• Host meetings with ownership and contractors throughout Cx process.

• Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning.

• Effectively communicate and interact with ownership and ensure their needs are being met.

• Verify the system installation and functional performance are per MIH standards, industry best practices, and the contract documents.

Required Experience & Skills:

• B.S. in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.

• 3+ years’ experience in any of the following areas are ideal candidates: Commissioning, Mechanical or Electrical Design, Construction Project Management, Control System Installation, HVAC Testing and Balancing, Facilities Operations / Maintenance.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings.

• Able to read, understand, interpret, and critique sequences of operation

• Working knowledge of unitary mechanical equipment (boilers, heat pumps, VFDs, etc.).

• Working knowledge of centralized condenser water plants, boiler plants and chiller plants.

• Working knowledge of controls systems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

 

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• 2+ years’ experience in the commissioning field.

• Experience in NYC Local law 87 (LL87) projects conducting both energy audits and retro-commissioning.

• CCP, CBCP, LEED N.C. certifications.
